BIOMASS
THERMAL

Wood Pellet IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SUPPLY OF THERMAL BIOMASS IN ALL ITS FACILITIES IN SALAMANCA, SPAIN AND PORTUGAL. BIOMASS IS AN ENERGY RESOURCE WITH GREAT ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIOECONOMIC BENEFITS

What is biomass?

Biomass is organic matter produced by plants and animals, such as: wood and tree leaves, nut shells, animal droppings, yard trimmings, and other agricultural waste.

Some of these natural resources are processed to make solid biomass or pellets , which are very small cylinders obtained from dry natural sawdust. They are then compressed at high pressure to form that cylinder, making their composition very dense and hard. Thanks to this they can generate a lot of calorific power.

Wood Pellet supplies thermal biomass to manage heating and hot water at its facilities in Salamanca, Spain and Portugal. We have biomass facilities for both community, industrial and tertiary use. There are many benefits to this energy resource, both environmental and socioeconomic.

Biomass is an energy resource with significant environmental and socioeconomic benefits

Environmental Benefits

100% natural product

Biomass does not require the felling of trees for its production, since in most cases it is obtained from sawdust from sawmills, carpentry, forest cleaning or lumber industries. It is therefore a renewable energy source, as it is obtained from inexhaustible natural sources and regenerates naturally.

resource that does not pollute

Biomass is a C02 neutral resource which means that plants, when burned, will expel the same amount of CO2 that they absorbed during their life cycle. This supposes an increase of this gas for the atmosphere, and thus helps to avoid the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Emissions from biomass boilers have a low emission of nitrogen compounds and very low or zero amounts of sulfur, one of the great problems of other fuels.

Socioeconomic Benefits

stable price

Biomass allows significant savings in heat management of your heating and hot water installation since biomass is cheaper than other fuels such as oil or coal. In addition, its price is much more stable since it does not depend on geopolitical issues.

Generate employment

Thanks to the growth in the demand for this type of fuel, the production of thermal biomass also allows the generation of new stable jobs in rural areas. It also helps settle population in these areas, creating a new source of income for local businesses.
